The last 25 years have seen a huge advance in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones. SESAR, the European Union's Digital Single Sky technology pillar, has given a figure for the future: 400 000 commercial and government drones will be flying over European airspace by 2035, but it could be more.
