Description

ARQUIMEA INGENIERÍA S.L.U. is a multinational company founded in 2005 as a spin-off of UC3M. ARQUIMEA develops electronic, microelectronic and electro-mechanic systems and components, including smart actuators and mechanisms, sensing systems, integrated circuits (IC) and robotic parts. The ARQUIMEA collaboration goal is to develop of innovative robotics solutions in a wide variety of applications.

Some of the projects that have been carried out thanks to this collaboration are related to the control of Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) fibers and their application as non-conventional actuators. The SMAVida project to demonstrate the feasibility of an advanced control system working on a fiber of SMA which is able to survive controlled 1,000,000 cycles using the control algorithms developed previously by the UC3M.
