Rubén de la Torre Cañizares obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2013. While working full-time, he earned his Master’s degree in Robotics and Automation from the same university in 2017.
 
In 2018, motivated by the social impact of a research initiative, he commenced his PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Automation, focusing on robot-aided rehabilitation systems for patients with spasticity. He completed his doctoral studies in September 2025 with a Cum Laude distinction, successfully combining full-time professional responsibilities with academic research.
 
He published his first article in September 2020: https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8220/20/18/5251, and his second article in April 2024: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-51993-w. Both publications are indexed in Q1 journals.
 
He continues to combine a full-time professional position with part-time research collaboration in the Roboespas project, bringing extensive private-sector experience to applied research in robotics and rehabilitation technologies.
