Factory automation of pre-fab GRC pieces for construction industry
The objective of the project was the automation of all the manufacturing process of the GRC pre-fab pieces factory: lay-out, transportation, spying, storage, etc. The daily operations are planned and supervised with result of 30% increase the productivity
This project is funded by the Spanish R&D agency CDTI and construction company DRACE (72.000 Euros ? UC3M). The main objective was the complete remodeling of the Caracola factory located in Torrejon, near Madrid. The factory manufactures big size (5-6 x 2 m) GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) pre-fab pieces for construction industry. The simulation of the pieces, materials, machines and operators flows permit the design of new factory lay-out. The new system is based on the automatic transportation of the panels, automatic assignation of the operators to the tasks and intelligent daily planning of the pieces to be produced. The system is supervised by the central computer with graphical friendly HMI.
