11th RoboCity2030 Workshop
Last March 14th Robotics Lab hosted the 11th RoboCity2030 Workshop. The topic of the workshop was Social Robots. The workshop was a great success and there was a lot of networking between members of RoboCity2030. A conference book was also edited.

2nd Workshop Robotics Lab Spring 2013
Last April 4th the 2nd Workshop Robotics Lab Spring 2013 was held. The speakers were Silvia Rodríguez, Martin Fodstad Stoelen and Alejandro Martín Clemente. This workshop was open to students of the Master of Robotics and Automation and students who are researching to present their degree project.

Álvaro Castro presented his PhD Thesis
Our colleague Alvaro Castro González presented in December 4th, 2012 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Bio-inspired Decision Making System for an Autonomous Social Robot. The role of fear. The directors of the thesis were Miguel Ángel Salichs and María Malfaz. The examing board was formed by Antoni Gomila Benejam, João Fernando Cardoso Silva Sequeira and Carlos Balaguer. He received the highest rating possible.

1st Robotics Lab Workshop Autumn 2012

Last November 16th took place the 1st Workshop Robotics Lab Autumn 2012 with the aim of joining common efforts between the different research lines within UC3M's group. The speakers were Jorge Garcia Bueno, Fernando Alonso Martín, Juan Carlos Gonzalez Víctores y Choukri Bensalah. RoboCity12
Robocity12

On June 7-8 June RoboCity12 event took place on the Paseo de la Castellana 78, Madrid. You can get more information at the website of RoboCity12. RoboCity12 was a meeting of the highest level in the area of robotics for citizens that aimed to bring together all actors involved in robotics: universities, technological centers, companies,... The opening session was chaired by academic authorities at the highest level with the participation of the Director General of CDTI. In addition, Professor Paolo Dario, RoboCom FET Flagship project’s coordinator, gave an inaugural lecture on the future of robotics.

During the event, several workshops on different topics took place. Finally, the latest developments not only robotic research centers of Madrid but also in several national and multinational companies were shown (these companies sponsored RoboCity12).

This event was organized by RoboCity2030 and also Hisparob, CEA, RoboCom (Robot Companions for Citizens, Coordinated action) and SEIDROB as co-organizers. RoboCity2030 consortium (funded by Community of Madrid and EU) includes research groups from UC3M (Robotics Lab), UPM, CSIC, UAH, URJC and UNED.
